BNP list

I'm not a fan of the BNP (far from it) but why should it be illegal for civil servants etc. to be a member?
It's not an illegal political party they're alowed (rightly) to stand in elections, they even qualify for party election broadcasts on TV.
Should Police officers not be allowed to officiate picket lines if they are Tories, would they be deemed similarly biased if they were Labour activists, are Police and prison wardens not allowed to be members of any political party?
Do the other parties display a list of it's members names, occupations and addresses?

There's a huge difference between Tories and Labour amd "normal" parties and the BNP
And as I've pointed out they all agree that the BNP are beyond the pale.
The normal parties don't actively discriminate against people on their race. The BNP do.
Policemen have to deal with all this countries inhabitants on a fair and even basis.
Being a member of the BNP is completely incompatible with this.
It's not specifically the BNP it's any party that espouses racism - If the Nation of Islam were a force here it'd be them too.

If they are beyond the pale, why are they not banned? Is it because alot of the slurs against them are not 100% true?
If they are so racist, why are there coloured mambers?
Your comments may be true of Combat16 and the National Front but I think you are rather over generalizing to proved your lefty point.
Commies like you are more dangerous to this country.

But under statute dont they have the freedom to belong to any membership body they so wish? Whilst they may be members of the BNP, this does not necessarily mean they will vote for or against them, or agree with everything they say.
Britain, as well as being a representative democracy, has also been labelled a liberal democracy. A country that claims to be a "liberal democracy", embraces the whole issue of civil liberties - freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom of assembly freedom of religion etc (within the confines of the law) all are of paramount importance.
As far as we are aware, these people have not broken the law, and are not doing so by association are they?

I don't think anyone's disputing the fact that they're a lega political party. Unless I've missed something?
It's a question of whether a police officer can hold those views and be ostensibly fair-minded enough to treat every member of the public equally. Everyone is equal in the eyes of the law but BNP members actively discriminate against different ethnicities.
Hang on, jake's already said that. And it's been explained about 5 times on other threads. Still...

Then should a member of another racist organisation, The Black Police Officer's Association, which discriminates against white officers, be allowed any say in a disciplinary case against a white officer? Surely as a member of an organisation which discriiminates against white people they wouldn't be impartial?
It bars white officers becoming members so by nature it is discriminatory. It may have escaped your notice but 90% of the UK population is white, so then a white dominated country.
Perhaps the Jamaican police force is similarly black dominated. Of course the White Police Officer's Association of Jamaica is there to look after their members interest. Don't tell me there isn't one!!
The "white domination" of the police force could be in part to the Black Police Officer's Association advising black and Asian people not to become police officers.

Similar to disproportianate discrimination to whites in the ANC for example then Quinlad? Or the England football team? White under reprresentation you must agree.
Why do we never see the number of ethnic minority applicants for posts, only the take on figure. Could it be that heaven forbid they aren't applying. Perhaps on the advice of the Black Police Officer's Association.
