vax carpet cleaner

we have just bought a new Vax rapide 026 carpet cleaner and there is a fault on it which will be rectified by the warranty, on the first run there was no detergent coming out of the dispenser at all, I called the support and he said it could be an air lock being the first time used .well it's not.when you look inside at the round white fitting the detergent holder sits on there is no outlet for the fluid to go to, it beats me and I'm up on mechanical and electrics the whole fluid seating when the tank is on is sealed ,so hows' the fluid come out or in my case it doesn't,anybody got one to see how the fluid gets out.
of course I filled the tank its all assembled correctly and yes the fluid release trigger is being held open.
