Reclaiming Bank Charges: Will HSBC also close my account if I reclaim my First Direct charges?
4 Answers
Hi there,
I will shortly be reclaiming the charges on our First Driect Joint account. I understand that once you have made a claim for your past charges, the banks in question will often close your account and demand back all money owed.
This is fine in the case of the First Direct account for which I am making the claim.
However I also have a seperate HSBC account, loan and credit card. As First Direct is owned by HSBC, do you think it is likely that if I make a claim for my First Direct fees, HSBC will also want to close my accounts and demand back any money owed? Or are they not as 'joined up' in that way?
I just want to be reassured that I will not be making life more difficult for myself by claiming back the fees on my First Direct account.
Many thanks, in advance.

check out martin money saving expect for more details - its all on there letters and help points
Financial hardship - is purely struggling to pay food fuel and rent/morgage bills and all you need to do is write to them asking them to look at your claim ahead of the courct case.
They will write back and ask you to fill in a form stating outgoings etc - complete return and wait for the chq/money to drop in
Good luck and enjoy the money
