She failed to realise that the difference between her and the McCanns is social status.
They are high earning professional people who could afford to holiday in Portugal.
Karen Matthews was a unmarried mother of 7 who saw her kids as a meal ticket.
Even IF Sharron had been kidnapped the general public would never have felt nearly as much empathy towards her as they have the McCanns.
