This is what we now have come to expect from our super modern British rail service.
Ahead of a two-day Christmas shutdown on most of the British rail network, the Liberal Democrats have released research showing that millions of travellers face being stranded because of the 58-hour closure.
In Britain, on Christmas Day the only rail services running are Gatwick Express and Heathrow Express both of which have been replaced by buses, by contrast close to normal rail services are running in many European countries.
On Boxing Day, the only services running are: Eurostar, First Capital Connect, First Great Western, First ScotRail, Gatwick Express, Heathrow Express, Southeastern, Southern, and Stansted Express.
Lib Dem Transport spokesman Mark Hunter said: 'It seems crazy that, at the very time many people need to use trains the most, there are none available.'
