Israel thinks it can treat all the Arabs the same way that the Nazis treated the Jews. They're still on a mission to make someone pay for what happened to the Jews in WW2. I've absolutely no doubt that if they thought they could get away with it, they would wipe all the Arab nations from the map - much the same as the Nazis wanted rid of all the Jews. It's about time all the Arab nations formed an alliance in order to guard against
Neo-Nazi Israel.

Your logic is right but parties do not add up. If jews are on a mission to pay back what was done to them in WW2 then why to the people who gave them shelter and are themselves without shelter as a result of that, why do they not attack where they were victimized and kicked out.

No they are not.

Several hundred bombs and mortars have been launched out of Gaza during the last week at Israeli civilians. True the weapons are unsophisticated and have not killed many people, but never the less, they have caused considerable terror among the Israeli civilians that they were aimed at.

As we have seen many times before, Israel tends to be merciless in its retaliation and this is no exception. But there was considerable provocation.

Both sides never really wanted the ceasefire. It was brokered so that Bush could finish his disastrous term in office with a a success, Peace in the middle east. As neither side is interested in Peace, and the war itself is a proxy battle between the US and Iran, then it had no chance of success.

Much will be made of the Iranian source of Hamas' bombs, but it will be conveniently forgotten that the Israeli planes and bombs that killed so many civilians yesterday were gifts from the US to Israel.

The last six months have be a mere respite in the continuing murderous cycle, with both parties and outside forces as well, equally to blame.

The Arabs will have to learn to accept that Israel exists before any deal can be done, rightly or wrongly we are where we are.

No, they are wary of Arab nations but they are not planning genocide and they are not Nazis. They are responding, with disporportionate force in my opinion, to constant low-level attacks from one Palestinian organisation.

Their claim to live in what was Palestine is based on God telling them they could millennia ago; unfortunately, by the time Europe and America agreed they could have it, the Palestinians were already there. So the Palestinians are now alienated from their own homeland as Jews once were. Personally, I think the Jews should have been given a chunk of Germany after the war as reparation for the holocaust; but they weren't, so as 123everton says, we are where we are.

I don't see any likelihood that Israel will cease to exist - the Americans won't allow it - but I can't blame the Palestinians for wanting their home back.

um, yeah, except Ahmadinejad isn't an Arab. He's an Iranian. Arabs and Persions have been enemies for millennia, up to and beyond the Iran-Iraq war. Iraq was Sunni, Iran was Shia. Now they're both Shia thanks to the war: the USA has succeeded in bringing Iran and Iraq together. Was that wise?

Lonnie, they are only going after Hamas. I believe I saw on the news tonight there were seven UN workers killed, not to mention the women, children and other innocents. What would you expect the Palestinians to do when their homeland has been occupied by the Israelis for 30 odd years. The Israelis are living up to their name and are ultra greedy, taking more and more land and racing to build more and more settlements on the stolen land, in the hope that they may retain it in any future settlement, which I believe is not remotely possible. Still, you have probably heard of David and Goliath ....... Goliath in this case being Israel. hth

Cugetit, killing people isn't automatically genocide. Genocide is systematically trying to wipe out an entire race. That's what happened to the Jews during the war, and it's what differentiates the deaths of 5-6 million Jews from most of the others who died then (though the Nazis did try to wipe out other groups too). This isn't happening to the Palestinians.

Lonnie, as regards what's proportionate, I don't have figures for 2008 but in 2007 - a year when deaths dropped from 2006 -

Thirty-five percent of the dead were not involved in hostilities, compared to more than half in 2006.
