So a few celebs have pitched in to buy a strip of land to prevent the expansion of HEathrow...

I'm not yet decided which side I am on in all this.. but have these Celebs never ever used a plane to travel on holiday? Seems a bit hypocritical to oppose the airport expansion yet travel off to here and there for your long haul holidays! Is it a case of not on my doorstep'??

Are you on the side of these protestors or not? interested in your views

Jake, so why is the government backing the expansion? They seem to have bought into those dishonest arguments.
I am in favour of the action Greenpeace is taking. Heathrow airport stuck bang in the middle of a huge residential area and the noise and pollution for hundreds and thousands of residents is a daily fact of life. It is an unsuitable location for any further expansion. The Government are lying about the achievement of aircraft environmental standards and don't have a hope of achieving future targets in this area. Yes, many of us havel used Heathrow from time to time but we have to be realistic about what climate change is doing to our planet. In twenty or thirty years time, when we and/or our children are facing possible starvation because of the serious impact of global warning, I wonder how many people will have wished they had done more to prevent it when they had been able. The benefit of hindsight is a wonderful gift.
I forgot to mention that if you want to become a 'beneficial owner' of this plot of land, along with Greenpeace, you can sign up to do so, at no cost, on the Greenpeace site at www.greenpeace.org.uk.
Over 5000 people have already signed.

And if you lived anywhere near one of the flight paths and suffered intolerable noise and found yourself breathing in polluting aircraft emissions as you sat in your garden on a summer's day and tried to enjoy the "fresh air" , I bet you'd be signing up too.
i live right by heathrow and i dont really notice lots of traffic. well there are always lots of cars and some areas are slow moving but never at gridlock. Its far worse trying to drive into central london.
I dont really think it should go ahead though, purely based on enviromental factors.
