Would we have also seen a national strike called by the unions if the Tories and not Labour had been in power?

No i don't think so, what would it achieve? It just demonstrates the unions are run by brainless tw&ts, I mean economic crisis, I know lets cost everyone a days pay, that'll really help! I don't think even going back to the 70s unions in UK they'd be that silly! Bl00dy frogs?, mad, raving mad!

'Frogs' Geezer? Are we allowed to use the 'F' word?
It was more the union leaders picking a fight than anything not really who was in power. Thankfully our union leaders are not as stupid and arropgant as they were.

Typical of the Frogs though, strkie at anything. Better watch our lamb next/

And to rub salt in, I've had no end of grif from some frog who managed to get in today. Just my luck
I did find this rather amusing and very appropriate

Much to the chagrin of the Trade Unions, the present Labour Government did not repeal any of the Labour Relations Laws introduced by Mrs Thatcher. I suspect that regardless of who was in, at the moment many people are fearful of losing their jobs and striking is the last thing on their minds.

On the other hand, if the Tories were in and were doing absolutely nothing to try and help people (which seems to be Cameron's current policy for dealing with the financial crisis and recession), then their might have been a backlash.
They obviously don't read the British press. They've never had it so good compared with what we are going through.
