Should Adrian Chiles be sacked from bringing the BBC into disrepute?

Carol Thatcher made a comment yesterday off camera though while still at work. If a person took offence at that, then fair enough, there is a grievance procedure to follow.

However someone (and I presume this to be Chiles though concede it may be someone else) has made this story public.

There is absolutely no reason for this - and it again brings the BBC into the forefront in a bad way.

Should the person responsible for making this public be disciplined?

You don't know who it was - Chiles and Jo Brand were in the room and challenged her about it, the rest of the production team got to hear about it.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga looks nothing like a golliwog, by the way

You don't know who it was - agreed which is why I said both and I presume this to be Chiles though concede it may be someone else) and Should the person responsible for making this public be disciplined?

The point remains though - Should the person responsible for making this public be disciplined?
i think id should get a refund on my licence....
The BBC will never know who it was - somebody got paid by a newspaper for telling the story.
It does show the double standards within the BBC, one of their overpaid stars is allowed to get away with outrageous behaviour on air while lesser mortals get sacked for a comment off camera,( though I dont condone what she said)
So it was Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Is that confirmed?

If so, I have to ask people...does he really look like a g0******:

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga = http://blogs.abc.net.au/photos/tennis_australi an_open/tsonga.jpg

A g0****** = http://www.golliwogg.co.uk/images/dolls/golliw ogg-1880.jpg

I could understand it if Thatcher had said he looks like Mohammed Ali, but a g0******??? Was she high?
Carol Thatcher needs sacking- she made the reckless + deeply offensive comment about this French tennis player who looks just like himself- beautiful :-). Have made a post on Society and Culture- People about this matter- please feel free to comment there on my post.

Hugs, Bea
But was it definitely him?

The irony is (if it was him) is that he's a very good looking chap who looks nothing like a g0lliw0g. And the person who said it was...Carol Thatcher who looks like a man in drag!!!

Glass houses love, glass houses.
You appear to be making an assumption of where the leak came from. However, in a statement, the BBC has said

"There were a number of complaints from people in the room about this particular remark, it did cause offence. A number of people were quite taken aback by the language."

Whoever said, passing on the words of a private conversation, though not nice is not against any rules. It was the golliwog comment that brought the BBC into disrepute, not the messenger.
sp1814- Love your humorous comment :-) How true!! Bless you ;-) You are a star!! Hugs, Bea :-)
Carol Thatcher should disappear altogether. What does she offer TV! If she wasn't the daughter of Maggie, she wouldn't be offered work anyway.

LOL at SP. How right you are.
In my opinion what Jonathan Ross said about Andrew Sachs was more insulting, yet he kept his job!
I meant to say "what Ross said about Andrew Sachs` Grand-daughter.
1Armedbandit - Ross was suspended for 6 months. Thatcher's been banned from one programme, not the BBC. She could be back on TV tomorrow. I'd say she got off lighter.

The leak could be from anywhere. I bet hundreds of people at the Beeb knew within hours. If someone said something racist in our office in front of people, everyone would know pretty quickly. In fact, when a member of our senior management team made a series of Bernard Manning style black and asian jokes in earshot of several members of the company, he was disciplined. Everybody knew.

Bit different. Ms Thatcher is an occasional guest on The One Show. She's not a permanent present.

Jonathan Ross was suspended without pay. This means he was effectively 'fined' 1.5million. I think his punishment was substantially greater than Carol's.

Which I think is correct, because his actions were very incredibly stupid.

Weird how both Thatcher, Ross and Brand - all supposedly professional broadcasters can be so heroically dim!
"she's not a permanent presenter
But as a permanent presenter,presumably Alliterative ?
I do admit to being a racist but her comment was not one that I would make because it does cause offence. She may not have meant it to cause offence but even I find it offensive and she should be asked not to speak in that way, but she should not be fired. Definitely get rid of Jo Brand thoughl, I hate that evil cow.
How dare sp1814 post on subjects that cause offence when he himself makes one such as this,

Carol Thatcher who looks like a man in drag!!!

Should he lose his job or at the least banned from AB?

'Level playing fields' is all that I ask.
