im confused and a little upset, as a kid i was always told to look after my teeth, i did, mum and dad were strict very strict with sweets even juice etc, never tasted fizzy pop till i was a teenager! anyway im 27 and have nice white teeth and never had a filling or a problem with my teeth, im obviously now grateful for the strictness lol
but i have been the same with my daughter, maybe not so strict on the sweets, but she is 7 has 4 new bottom teeth the rest are milk teeth and the 4 new teeth are yellow! i know they will obviously look darker next to her milk teeth but they do look really yellow she cleans her teeth every single day and even started using floss this year as i noticed cleaning wasnt getting all the bits out, plus got mouth wash ( the one for kids) any ideas on why her teeth are this colour? i mean she is due the dentist in a month or so, so i will ask then but has anyone else notied this with their child? not sure where im going wrong???
Don't know how true this is but a friend of mine from school had yellow teeth which was apparently caused by fluoride overdose, fluoride was/still is added to tap water and back in the 80's it was the 'in thing' to give kids flouride supplements.
Have a word with the dentist, if its really noticeable maybe she could have them whitened
thanks guys ill look on google and have a word with the dentist,
the main reason for my worry isnt her apearance, plus she hasnt noticed it herself, its the condition of her teeth, im woried she may have very weak teeth, and have problems through the next few years, teeth can be very painful! :o(
Some people do have naturally yellower teeth, particularly redheads. I believe they are stronger rather than weaker teeth, but a shade yellower not obviously stained. My friend had brown stains on her teeth when young due to flouride.
Hi - I too have horrible yellowy teeth - diabetic for 30yr+ so sweets arn't to blame.!! In my case it is apparently due to long courses of antibiotics I was on as a child, due to a bone infection. My youngest has similar teeth and he too was on IV antibiotics and long courses of them due to a similar prob. My other two kids also have excellent dental hygiene and the sort of dazzling gnashers I really envy.
Isn't it the case that pregnant women who were prescribed tetracycline (for whatever) can experience the side effect of the child having yellowed teeth? Vague memory of being told this once.
My daughter, who is now 34, has alwas had yellow teeth. Hers was due, so I was told when she was younger antibitoics caused it . But she has never had a filling in all these years. The dentist said they where stronger than white teeth. Which is true in my other daughter, 36, who has loads of fillings in hers.
when my big teeth came through they were yellow but i cleaned flossed and washed evry day my dentist sed it was natural in some ppl and just to keep cleaning as i always had

Yellow Teeth are usually caused by consumption of certain foods land beverages such as turmeric, potato, blueberry, blackberry, tobacco, red wine, tea, coffee etc. Regularly rubbing dried and powdered orange peels on the teeth is one of the most effective on yellow teeth.
