I am quite alarmed at the spread of the Taliban in Northern Pakistan (Sky News is running this all week)
I watched as a Sky correspondent was allowed in to film them in the Swat Valley region, is this just the start of world domination? These fanatics are lunatics who implement Sharia law, and yet Pakistans PM said there isn't a spread of the Taliban in his country, two men getting lashed in public, admittedly this was for drugs so one might say " they should do this all over to these vile creatures" but other aspects of Sharia Law are terrifying, should we be alarmed here in the West of this happening to us, say in another 15-20 years?

Why are you worried about this in Afghanistan when an equally severe Government exists in Saudi Arabia?

I think before Britain becomes an islamic state there would need to be a significant number of Islamic MPs to bring it about.

There are 646 MPs - 4 are muslim.

Even if we assumed an outrageous rate that the number would double every election in 20 years they'd still only make up 10% of MPs

Its not just immigration is it, what about the birth rate of which these communities' are far higher than the indiginous population. On top of this we have bucket loads of 'right on' pinko liberals are championing the cause of the minority. So Sharia law is a distinct possibility. However, for all the population of the uk ? I very much doubt it. As point out earlier tolerance has its limits and when the British are pushed they tend to go for it plus of course many of the immigrants have actually come here to get away from that sort of thing.

Personally I think in this country we have far more to worry about with the limp wristed commie PC brigade.

Unlikely to happen here. Taliban rule is what moslems here fight for. Hope the young moslem males realise that the aged leaders of Taliban/Sharia take first 'pickings' of moslem females and have as many as they like disposing of unsuitable females on 'trumped-up' charges!

As for the present PM asking for more money from UK & USA to 'finance' the fight against Taliban - I hope our Gov's see thru that dubious ploy.

to answer Jake, why do I think Sharia law could come here, I think there is a ground swell of extremists which are are home grown, who think the Clerics like Abu Hamza are "leaders" with an aim to turn western societies into Islamic states, as young people, predominatley males, look into a bleak future with no jobs, these Clerics are proven to be a honeypot for them, I picked out Abu Hamza as one of these people, I know he is in prison awaiting deportation, but there a lot more like him, not just here but in other western countries, and there aim is to see Islamic states in the West, may not happen in our life time but could you have forseen this 20 yrs ago?

going on from yesterday, Sky News has reported there are at least 20 young men now back in the UK who have been fully trained in terrorism and are ready to act, they are to be named later today but I would think that may be to the security services , they have been trained by both the Taliban and Al-Queda, they are at present recrutiing other young men to form terror cells and because they travel freely to, perhaps not the land of their birth, but to their Motherland, are finding the recruitment very easy.
