Personally I enjoy music created well before I was born taht my dad listens to and some he doesn't, as well as the music I have listened to as i've grown up. Thus i listen to music from Pink Floyd to The Jam to Oasis to Drum n Bass to NuSkool Breaks. So you haven't got to move forward - i think you've GOT to appreciate whatever you listen to and like. If you don't like something the you don;t like something. But if your reason for not liking something is because its old, then it just shows narrow mindedness.
It's not a case of new music v old, it's more a case of the Strokes being singularly incapable of producing a song with half the wit, style and musical dexterity of London Calling let alone a body of work comparable to that of the Clash, one of the greatest bands of all time. Strokes are simply poster boys for a style-mag generation.
