Planning on doing a trip to the National Park when in Lanzarote.  Fancy going on the Camels there too.  Does anyone know if this is an expensive trip and do you have to organise it through a tour rep, if not how do you go about it?  Not usually one for doing anything other than lying on a beach.

Hi I used to live in Lanzarote and if I remember rightly it was approx 40 euros i think for a full day out at the park inc lunch, coach and camel ride. The live volcano excursion is fantastic and you can have a meal cooked over the volcano on a massive grill, 600 degrees, meal nice in evening! The views are tremendous. Also the caves and kings swimming are good. All the excursions range from 25 euros to 40 euros I think. You can get some cheaper deals from the local dealers than from your reps. I loved it there its a family island though of course you get young ones there too. I lived in Puerto Del Carmen. Just a few things to watch are the time share sharks on the streets and also the street sellers, better to buy from market. Electical goods are another big con there, although your rep will tell you the shops that are ok to buy from if you ask. The weather is fab, beaches lovely, sea warm in bays, this time last year was in 80s still. Have fun.

When we were there, we just hired a car and drove up. Parked up and paid for all the bits at the gates. It worked very well and saved a small fortune compared to the organised tour that the rep had put ogether. I agree with Beckygee in that it is a great day out and well worth it. It's quite exposed and windy up top of those camels mind, so take a jumper and sunscreen!
just come back from lanzarote and went on that excursion myself, it cost 23 per person which included transport and access to the park, booked it through the rep.
