Anyone interested? Or will this be overshadowed by the G20 protests and Jade Goody's impending funeral?

You bet I'm interested, my son works on the rigs off Aberdeen ( he's just phoned to say he's onshore at present, thank God) G20 protests- my daughter works in central London, I'm taking it all personally!

Great news for you about your son - sadly, 16 other families won't be as fortunate.

My son, too, works in Central London, so I share mutual concerns which you have for your daughter.
My oldest son works on the rigs,we dont keep in touch (personal reasons) but it does'nt stop me worrying about him.
What a tragedy.

This is the second one ditched lately.

My heart ,as usual, goes out to the loved ones who are affected by any tragedy.

Im glad your loved ones are safe -it sure brings it home just how fragile life indeed is regardless of where you are in the world.

8 so far are still missing -8 are comfirmed dead so far.

Isn't this the third one within a short time? One went down off the coast of Ireland (I think) with no fatalities, one off the coast of Newfoundland with 16 dead, and now this one.
Yes Stewey-This is the 2nd one from Aberdeen and you're right too about the Canadian one.
Yes the same type of helicopter ditched 6wks to the day and everyone survived thankfully.
It would appear reading between the lines that this was a catastrophic crash thus it now being stepped down to a search only.
Supposedly these rig-workers have to take a course, which is fairly well simulated, in detaching themselves from an immersed upside down helicopter. Unfortunately, all variables of the crash, including the speed at which the 'copter hits the water, cannot be simulated. It appears that all fatalities in the Canadian crash occurred upon impact (there was one survivor).
I'm interested to. I'm from up there and many of the lads I know work off shore. Fingers crossed for the ones still missing
the helecopters so very sorry for the loss of those men
I work in the oil indudstry and the mood in the office is sobre and reflective.

My thoughts are with the families at this sad time, als my thought are with their collegues still offshore .
