The poor man is dead. So it isn't surprising there are no answers to your frivolous question.
Somehow, I suspect that B. had tongue in cheek...so to speak.
Ja, stewey ist richtig, schutzengel. Ich denke brionon ist spielt sarkastisch.
OK, I'll answer - the accident happened at 9.30pm, in darkness. The unfortunate man that died was 79. Is it even remotely possible that he was confused, or walking on the road, or not wearing any visibility clothing, or that the area was dark with no lights, that the motorist couldn't possibly avoid, that he stepped out in front of the car... etc etc?
Because the news story mentions no facts whatsoever except that this poor sod was killed. If you look at the rules of the road there are very specific rules and responsibilities listed for pedestrians too, and I would take issue with your statement about motorists ruling the world. If he was knocked down on a footpath, you have a point. If on a road, you do not.
I think she meant that motorists think they rule the road...!!! In fact, pedestrians have the same rights.

Onion posted something similar a bit back, again that story link had no discernible facts that could shed any light on what might have happened and who might have been at fault.

If there is a point to make, I wish Onion would make it sharper, or just stop prodding with the rubbery end.
