Is it just me, or does anyone alse think it is appalling that the civil services is paying out bonuses to people who made it into work in the bad snow in London?

At my work if you don't make it in to work because of the weather you have to take it out of your holidays or take it as unpaid!

Where did you hear this story?
I work in the civil service and haven't heard this. You seem to know more about it than we do.
no I've seen this story as well - aren't the civil servants in London who made it to work getting 250.00 each?
I'm not. Do you fancy telling this to my boss, as no-one in our office has heard of it. An extra 250 would be handy.
People like these give us all a bad name. I can assure you that is just a minority. I turned up for work and didn't expect anything as did my colleagues.
My organisation did it as well (NHS). No apparent consideration of how far or near you were. I didn't go to work, stayed in and worked at home, entirely as productive as trekking 4 miles through deep snow. I therefore didn't benefit from an extra day's leave. C'est la vie. I am just thankful that when the need arises I can log in and work from home. No heroism, just pragmatism, and the job got done as ever.

Devil's Advocate 'ere:

Just wondering how many people whom this story "upsets" would have refused the money had it been offered to them?

Only a thought.
I'm sure all the Mail journalists would have refused it, they are all paragons of virtue.

I'd imagine
it is not the point wether or not an individual would accept the payment, in the real world it should'nt be offered.
As it was applied to the CPS makes you think that someone should be prosecuted for wasting taxpayers money.
Why blame the CPS for what MPs have been doing for many years and are still doing today, and in vastly larger amounts? What's good for the goose.......................
