Quick poll: Who scares you more, Saddam Hussein or George W Bush?

It's tricky, but I'd rather take my chances with Saddam. He may be no less dangerous, but he has less power, and Tony Blair hasn't mentioned following him blindly either.

Tricky indeed, they are both pretty scary. I think George W. actually gets the prize though, or the American public for voting him in. Imagine if he began wearing aviator sunglasses and a beret a la Saddam - terrifying.

The American public didn't vote him in remember? Come on, I know you all LOOOOVE to berate Americans, but would you really rather live in a country ruled by Saddam Hussein than by Bush? Get real. Yes, I think he's a pretty awful president, but grow up.

Yip, they're both vile, but you have to agree with larabell - Bush = stupid and scary, Hussein = clever and scary. Bush wins every time.

Thing is, sweet larabell, we dont live in the country of either. And to the outside world they appear remarkably alike in scariness!

apologies if I offended! I put the question up on the morning that it was reported that GWB had a list of seven countries he was going to nuke.(and then gave a speech about rogue states with weapons of mass destruction!) Compare this to the list (i think Im counting right) of five that Saddam feels like getting mass destructive on. But in terms of growing up, I think that GWB is more likely to trigger Armageddon the way he's going than SH.

Bush scares me more. And I would never ever want to live in the States where they love executing people and have traded employees' rights for a more flexible economy.

I don't quite understand how the 2 can be compared??? As an American (By The way I am very proud of the fact) I can't help but wonder how GWB could be compared to that sick individual. We (ALL Americans) are about stopping this bull S*&T that is happeing all over the world and yes now in our country and you should be thanking us as well for trying to stop it. Thank goodness for Tony Blair (he has guts). I for one feel a little more comfortable at night because of GWB (and Tony Blair), and you should as well. Feedom is not something that is given (as you all know!), and we need to preserve it. God Bless America and Tony Blair.

One last response. I don't think there has been a single year since 1965 when there has not been at least one terrorist attack in the UK. Scales vary. The attacks we have recieved are from groups about which the USA has raised no outcry, but they are terrorist groups. If I truly believed that the american and allied actions would bring an end to terrorism, or even cut down its frequency, I would applaud them. They wont. They are more likely to make the situation worse. Ah well. Sometimes I think that the Hindu view of history as a great wheel is perhaps the most accurate. Wheel turns, things change, wheel turns, things stay the same. Learning does seem very difficult.
