A new gas supply?
2 Answers
Does anyone know how much I can expect to be quoted for a new gas supply? I live in a terrace of approx 20 victorian cottages. Ours is the only one not to have gone over to gas at some point. We have storage heaters - which are dire - and are hoping to go to gas central heating, enjoy this for a couple of winters, then move house. I've asked British Gas for a quote for the supply, which they have told me to expect in 2-4 weeks. They wouldn't give me any clue as to what this quote might be. I understand this to an extent - every house being different etc - but it would be really useful to know if we can afford to get this done or not. So, would anyone have a rough idea? It's a mid-terrace cottage, 10 foot front garden between house and main gas pipe (under an unadopted - track like road), and we wanted the meter on wall on house exterior.
Any ideas would be really appreciated.

Thanks very much Dennis, sounds like you got a bargain!
The good news: have just got the quote through (in 2 days - not bad).
The bad news: 1160 !!!!!
Will have to pay it unfortunately as storage heaters are costing a bomb, and we're hoping to sell up in a couple of years - won't sell it without GCH.
Horrible, feeling that you're over a barrel but what can you do.....?
Thanks again.
