Loves 'Orrible when you are 53 and an 'arf.. (part 1)

OK, here's the story. Every few weeks, I trot off down to a local over 30's disco with my bessy female friend. We go for a good dance, and unlike some of the blokes who go there, I don't go for a drink or to pull, I just go to get rid of some pent up energy (Gawd, how do you girls put up with some of the creeps who go to these places......).
I digress. I don't go to pull, but, hey, I'm a red blooded bloke, so I like to look, and then one night about six months ago, I saw her. To say I was smitten is an understatement, as I couldn't take my eyes off her, and I know she noticed me cos she made a comment to my friend about how she'd never known a bloke dance so much, while I was having a rest. Being smitten like that doesn't happen often, and at least 3 times before, something HAS come of it. So I resolved I would ask her for a dance, only I was about to when someone else did, and she shot him down in flames. Knocked my confidence a bit, so I thought I'll leave it till next time.
Well next time came, only she didn't, and it was like that for months, until a month ago, she suddenly reappeared. Oh she was so lovely!!. Well, to cut a long story etc, I danced near her all night, got a few smiles during the evening, and had a bit of small talk (like how I hadn't seen her around, blah blah blah). At one point she sat where I sat, so I went over to get something from my coat. She asked me if I wanted to sit, and, oh so casually and smoothly, I said "No, but I'd like to have a dance with you later if you don't mind".
