D Day? Or "Done To Death Day?"
Will it ever stop being commemorated? Should it?
Is it right to, or should we say; "enough's enough".

Ah, what if.....
Western civilisation, defined by "white" people and "white" advances, is on its last legs. Black and Brown is taking over, not a bad thing after the disgraceful behaviour of white people in foreign climes.
Let us all look forward to a new time, a new period of peace and harmony, such as they have in Somalia and Chad.
In Britain it can be achieved with the taxpayers assistance.

The last UK survivors of the Great War have dwindled down to less than a handful.
In time, the same will be said of WW11. But while they are here they should be allowed their moment in the sun. They've earned it.
We should forget old emnities, Rorkes Drift, Waterloo, and the like. But it would be a sad day when we forget the sacrifice that so many of our young men and women made for us.

whifffey,
Not sure how to phrase this question, but I'll try...
What exactly is wrong with you?
How did you manage to make the leap from a thread about D-Day to a sneer on black people?
Am I missing something? Is this a game you're playing...like six degrees of separation, where you see how few 'jumps' you have to make on any given subject to get to get to an anti-black statement?

>I think it would be disrespectful to not commemorate
>it while even one veteran lives....
I was watching part of the D Day program on TV today, and thought to myself, what about all the people who fought in OTHER battles in the second world war.
We rarely, if ever, have a special day for them (apart from at the Cenotaph).
While D Day was important, so were many other battles in the second world war, and they are never mentioned.
Even the people "back home" like policemen and firemen who had to deal with the blitz and pull bodies out of the ruins rarely get a mention.
So I do think paraffin has a point, why the focus on D Day?
Or does the success of saving Private Ryan have somrthing to do with it (I notice Tom Hanks was there in the crowd)?

I think it will be a very sad day when we can no longer pause, remember and thank those who fought for our freedom at the cost of their lives.. Perhaps paraffin is too young to know very much about the war or has read too little about the tyrranies which the world suffered as a result of Hitler.
I hope that one day Paraffin will hopefully be a little more mature in his outlook and value a little more the sacrifices that others made so that he can enjoy the kind of freedom that he now has. He should at least be thankful that he doesn't live in China and tried to demonstrate in Tiannamen Square a few years ago.

Still doesn't make sense. You point seems to be "If you are going to say positive things about black people and gay people, I'm going to slag them off".
What an odd standpoint that is. It would make sense only if I constantly opened threads which were hostile to whites and straights.
So, is it 'six degrees' you're playing?
If so, see how few jumps you can make between the MP's expenses scandal and, say, illegal Adrican immigrants.
Betcha can't do it in less than four jumps.

I think the reason why it is commemorated it is because it both wars were world wide wars and many millions were killed. Britain would be in the hands of the Germans if it wasn't for the brave people who fought. There are still many survivors of WWII and a handful from WWI. There will come a day when it does end but not quite yet.
