Are we becomming more EU sceptic?

UKIP improve on their 2004 result which at the time was derided as some sort of fluke. They claim they would have done even better had the debate not been dominated by the expenses fiasco, so is UK becomming sick and tired of EU subjugation?

I think the British public are very Euro sceptic and the mainstream politicians have ignored this by denying a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty. When the people of Britain voted yes to Europe back in the 70's, it was to join the EEC, the European Economic Community, and there was no talk about political integration, in fact we were assured this would not happen. The slow drip drip approach to European political unity has resulted in the gains for UKIP and the disintegration of the Labour vote. New Labour have only themselves to blame.

the eu is of course a hideous creature of no benefit to a country with a base culture of hard work and self responsibility,

luckily we are just about hanging on to a degree of democracy despite labour,

and so if one chooses to support the eu and is happy for �45m a day to go to lazy grabbers east of uk do so,

otherwise ukip seem the party to support to restrict the amount of central legislation and ultimately withdraw from membership of this pointless club,

Inside the EU we are a top table country with major influence

Outside we are a small country with little real influence.

As part of the EU we have the clout to take on the US when they slap on steel embargoes

We have the power to take on major multinationals like Microsoft when they indulge in anti-competetive practices.

- Can you imagine any British goverment (of any colour) sucessfully laying down the law to Bill Gates and co?

We can be a big noise as part of the EU or an irrelevence outside of it.

The Conservatives have 25 seats on a pro-EU ticket.
UKIP have 13 seats on a anti-EU ticket.

Both parties gained one place.

So you reckon 1.7million people would have voted against the EU instead of for it, if UKIP had more resources?

The Labour Party had far more activists to go door to door so by your method should have done better than UKIP. They obviously didn't.

So, of the 30% that bothered to vote, just 16.5% voted for UKIP. Or, 2.4million out of an electorate of 44.1million.

I agree lucy. Jake wake up mate. Europe needs us more than we need them. We can still trade etc. from outside that corrupt and bullying club, and be better off.
