cancelling a subscription a movie channel

my son is trying to cancel a subscription to a movie channel which he ordered through sky but not one of the sky channels. (dont ask what - I havent) when he lived somewhere else.

anyway he has rang the company who asked for the sky viewing card number which he doesnt have as he moved back home some time ago.

I suggested writing to the company whose address we have, having googled it and tell them that he wants to cancel the subscription giving them all the details apart from the sky viewing card number, and then informing the bank.

is this the right way do you think, can you tell me what you would do.
