Since there isn't a Topic titled Earth Shaking Events, I suppose this one will have to accomodate this admittedly non-question, scilicet:

Shortly after noon on July 8, comes the moment that can be called 12:34:56 7/8/9. (I realize this may not be so newsworthy for those areas of the world that use another method of denoting years/months/days, but here in the U.S. it's expected to be a National Holiday.)

As a matter of fact, the next momentous event of this nature will occur in a couple of years and we'll have 11:11:11 11/11/11! Pedantics celebrate! (Should I use a question mark to legitamize this entry?)
