I doubt any of it will reach those in need. We'll just be greasing the palms of 95 middle men and finally buying the local cheifs a new roller each. Pointless giving to Africa in it's current form as someone said somwhere we are just transferring money from poor people in a rich nation to rich people in a poor continent. Money only helps the rulers. Send food and supplies by all means but even that gets hijacked.
It surprises me that Brown with a First Class Honours Degree in Mathematics cannot work out the result of what World overpopulation means. China recognised this years ago and implemented a one child policy.

Darwin said that survival of the fittest was what nature intended.

What many object to is the handing out bn's of taxpayers money for his pet projects. Charity should start at home!

Well said,rov1200!!
The aid is not meant to solve all of Africa's problems, you would need a lot more than 12billion to do that.

This money is intended to feed starving human beings, who just happen to be a different colour to you.

Gordon Brown with his Presbyterian upbringing will be familiar with the parable of the Good samaritan.
The British have pledged 1.1billion to the billion fellow human beings starving in Africa.

Which is half what we annually spend on pet food.

Makes you proud to be British.
Yes Gromit all very heart wrenching but How much of the money will actually reach the starving? Virtually none if most charities are anythig to go by. We all want to feed the starving but we have no system of actually getting aid to them without it being ripped off. How is this money going to be dished out? Are we going to hand over wonga to the local despot and ask if he wouldn't mind buying some food for his starving people? Or are we going to buy loads of food and deliver it ourselves asking those spiffing warlord chaps if they wouldn't mind leaving our trucks alone!
