Muslims thwart terrorist attack

A student has been jailed for a minimum of 10 years for plotting to blow himself up using his own "suicide vest" and home-made explosives after a tip off to police by the from the muslim community. They reported his extremist statements and police found his bomb materials and a suicide bomb vest at his home.

In a statement following the verdict the Council of Bristol Mosques said its members condemned "in the strongest terms any act of facet of terrorism or extremism".

"We stress that at all times we must behave honourably and as law-abiding citizens. We believe strongly in community ties and community cohesion. Anything falling below these standards is morally and socially unacceptable," it said.

No, because it is a citizen's duty to assist the Police. They only did what they should have done, nothing more, nothing less.

No why shouldn't they report him? Not all muslims are terrorists and not all non muslims are good law abiding citizens.

Yet another home grown terrorist who has converted to Islam. Yes they do deserve some recognition for reporting him. Unfortunately many of the Muslim community would keep quiet.

HIs father is Egyptian Nassif Ibrahim, a Coptic Christian, so it must have been especially painful for him to see his son convert to Islam. Coptic Christians have been persecuted by extremist Muslims in Egypt for many years.

I doubt the Islamic community would have much trouble dobbing in an oddball ex Coptic Christian crack and heroin user.
