Because many dimlo's like to read trash.
the Mail is always keen to knock women, especially successful women. And yet its readership is strongly female. An odd approach, but commercially successful.
Here is a glimpse of the Mail's treatment...

The paper has the third largest sales in the UK with over 2 million copies daily.

That in anyone's definition is "commercially' successful.
To be fair, this story did make the front page of the Guardian as well.
Primary aim of all papers is to make money. If they dont they go to the wal. simple.

So what do you do ? Print what your readership wants. That is why the Sun is so sucessful, it changes its spots to fit public opionion. In some ways this is useful as it is an excellent indicator of public opinion, in other ways the stories can sometimes be skewed and have politcal bios in the two extreme cases of the mail and the Guardian.

It is not surprising that a paper aimed at females can slag one off and be popular. Females can be highly competitive and also very bitchy. Steriotype, mayeb, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating.
The whole of the media (not just the Daily Mail) will take every opportunity to publish unflattering photos of so called celebrities, if they can get their hands on them.

Take the recent one of Madonna's arms.

Or even the famous one of Mrs Blair answering the door, in her night wear.

What do they want a photo censorship, and only photos that have been passed by themselves or airbrushed, are allowed to be published?

The difference is they got it wrong.

Madonna has got freaky arms, but this woman, whoever she may be, does'nt have a 'tash. That is why they are looking a little silly themselves.
