But if you live in these countries you abide by the rules. Ok, flogging people is barbaric but she (and the others) knew what was acceptable to wear and what wasn't.

She has, I believe, actually asked to be flogged and, apparently, sent out invites (to attract publicity to her case obviously, but it does seem a little odd?).

I don't agree with it but, if you live in a country with those sorts of rules and you flout them, then you know the outcome.

If so, here's my view...as a Westerner, I find what happened to this woman appalling. I don't understand that culture, and don't pretend to.

However, I do understand British culture, which is why I posted the question about the Sikh women. O notice a deafening silence from those to proffer the view that only whit men suffer racist abuse in this country.

Earlier, she told the BBC she was not afraid, saying: "Flogging is not pain, flogging is an insult to humans, women and religions." I dont think it will happen.

It's a bad state of affairs - but only by western standards.
I believe in "When in Rome....."
However barbaric it seems, we can't expect the world to follow our beliefs, and although this woman's standing up for what she believes in, the law is the law. I'm sure there must be better ways of trying to implement women's rights, without flaunting the law and subjecting herself to being lashed.

I think it depends on the style tamb. Tight jeans, for example, would be frowned on, as they'd be seen to accentuate a woman's curves and be classed as a no-no.
