Oh if we only had politicians with the zeal and pluckiness of Bill Clinton.

He went over to North Korea (not the friendliness of nations) and within a very short time, he had the two captive US citizens released and on his plane back to America.

Good for you our Bill!!!!!

Yet our bunch of wasters can only gain the release and safely back into Briton of such people as Terrorists and Drug smugglers.

Since May 29 2007 there have been 5 British contractors held hostage in Iraq, now 4 of these are known to be dead.

What did our lot do about their initial plight? Absolutely nothing.

They care nothing for their citizens, they are expendable.

Bill Clinton didn't do any negotiating whatsoever, simply because he wasn't required to do so.

US officials have been negotiating with North Korean officials for many months. The Koreans eventually gave the US authorities a list of names of people to whom they'd hand over custody of the two journalists. Clinton's name was on that list and he agreed to travel (with the deal already having been done).

It's a lot easier to negotiate with governments than it is with 'terrorists' (or with 'freedom fighters', depending upon your views). Firstly, those who wish to negotiate know who it is they want to negotiate with and how to contact them. (The same is often not true of 'hostage' situations). Further, governments can be brought under pressures (such as the provision or withdrawal of aid packages) which can't be applied to individuals or groups who're holding hostages.

Your post reads like the rantings of a typical Daily Wail reader, who demands that governments should do 'something' but can't actually suggest exactly what it is that should be done.

I'm suprised you think that Clinton simply jumped on a plane went over and said to these Korean government dictators - '' look chaps , let's have no nonsense here , have these captives ready to leave with me - and make it sharpish ''
