If I were looking for a new job and it stated
�30,000 + benefits
What would 'benefits' be?
Would it be car, commission, phone etc

Or would commission be included in the �30,000 bit?

I know the benefits would vary from job to job - but just trying to ascertain... if commission would be classed as a benefit and also a car? Or is this included in the 'salary' element

You'd need to ask. If there was a car it would almost certainly say "+car". It may mean pension, gym membership, transport season ticket loans, staff discounts, subsidised restaurant, BUPA- could be anything.

Yes, �30k generally means the base salary.
'Benefits' can mean absolutely anything.
Some organisations certainly put a headline salary pitch that includes a target bonus achievement element.
Caveat emptor - so ask upfront..
