Elton wants to adopt..
22 Answers
ffs, he's 63 or something!
Do you think this is ethically right and that money talks? as in Madonnas adoption of baby Mercy,
If I wanted to adopt, my age would be seen as 'unsuitable'
leaving behind the gender issue, I don't have a problem there, but these people think they can buy babies,
he's seen a wee boy from an Eastern Bloc country, he would like to have...like a pet?????

the kid will after all be left with a 'nanny' when he a David Furnish globe trot as they apparently can't stand being parted!
The other side of the argument, the child would live in luxury instead of being impoverished,
but to sell your kid for 30 pieces of silver???

its wrong wrong wrong simply because its unfair that couples who can give a loveing home to kids have to go through so much red tape to adopt
are they to old at say 40?
do they fit in with the childs ethnic background?
check after check after check
but if your famous and regardless of age it seems as long as you have loads of cash there are no barriers to adoption

Normally, I would entirely agree with all the comments above, but I thought that the little boy has aids and has a limited life expectancy and lives in an orphange. I think in those circumstances, any love and luxury that that can be given to him regardless of the age or celebrity of the prospective parents has got to be a good thing. If the situation isn't as I understand it then I thake that back!
Hi annie, not sure if thechild himself has aids and yes, I see where you are coming from there, I just feel its about time thes mega-rich divas like Elton, came into the real world, 'Oh, see this little boy, I have to have him, he's stolen our hearts', a bit reminicent of MJ and Madonna, I would rather see him donate a huge chunk of his wealth to this orphanage to ensure the best facilities for the kids there. both medical and otherwise
Not sure the criteria for adpoting in the Eastern Bloc is the same as here.
How many fit 35 year olds have applied to adopt a child with aids from there and been refused?
Whilst I think 63 is too old to adopt I'm inclined to think that even if the child doesn't have aids there is such a stigma in that country it is the only way he will have the chance of a happier life

No one can see into the future young parents can be killed in a freak accident.
I would assume that anyone with children, would make provision for a guardian in their will to look after their children financially.
Emotionally perhaps years, however many, of love, affection and caring will make up for a child being left in an institution.

I have not read the story....I would not say it is immoral, and whether or not people are fit to adopt at 62 is up the the authorities involved surely??
if he is adopting WITH Furnesh....then the ages of both of them would be considered....and they are judged as a couple-not just Elton John.
As for the money aspect-if he is giving money to help this orphanage, and possibly for Aids research.......then that also must be a good thing. Not all money that changes hands in such an arrangement should be seen as bad.
PS....is this a current story,as a quick GOOGLE only brought up that he HAD considered adopting a child in the past-but thought better.
Any links??

I don't think IVF treatment can be classed as shopping for babies if used it the proper way and thats very often when women have exhausted every other avenue LB, could be said for sperm donations, a lot of women prefer raising a child without a bloke, not for me, but it is for some, and ofcause, Lesbian women would rather use this form, I am talking here of a elderly person using his wealth to buy a kid and neither jealous or homophobic
