Does it matter if Brown is snubbed by Obama? The American president has had face to face talks with Japan, China and Russia but the overtures from No.10 have fallen on death ears. Have we an inflated ego on our current status in the world? The yanks have been trying hard to dispense with this special relationship and would rather deal with the big boys. Maybe its an EU representative that should be having talks not some bit part player?

Our serviceman and women are being killed, and mutilated, in Afghanistan because an American President fowled-up.
You'd think it would be the least Obama could do to give Brown his photo opportunity...
Why does the line; "Put not your faith in Princes" come to mind?
Who says '' ...The yanks have been trying hard to dispense with this special relationship...'' - ( if there was ever one )

By all accounts the Obama administration aren't too keen on Brown , because he is too 'dour' , or words to that effect .
They are waiting for Nick Clegg to take over the reins

Clegg has more chance of winning the National Lottery Jackpot every week for a year than becoming Prime Minister
someone fetch me a sedative, I'm forced to agree with Dancairo! The old septics have thrown the toys out over the Lockerbie bomber Bloke being let out, that's all.
Obama knows if he's seen shaking hands with Brown, he'll lose a squillion votes and with is popularity seriously going down the kasi, he can't afford that. Give it a few months and the US public will have forgotten about it.
the americans would be wise to remember that it is the u.k that gives them the most military in ant world conflict that they get dragged into..maybe obama ought to remember this when he asks us to help them out in any further conflict....
No of course it doesn't matter that Brown is being snubbed by Obama beause, thank the lord, Brown is a dead man walking,

Jake, amongst others, will steadfastly refuse to admist that Labour/Brown are anything other than demi-gods and that it is all Thatcher's fault, but the fact remains that the the Labour Government have well and truly ruined this country.

On this I will brook no argument and I defy anybody to argue otherwise.
"On this I will brook no argument"?

Is that code for "I'm right, anyone who disagrees is wrong, I have my fingers in my ears, nah nah nah I can't hear you"?
PS don't you think that the phrase "I will brook no argument" is just a little...err..pompous?
dancairo , your'e probably correct - i'd forgotten about the Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi ( I just love saying that name out in full ) affair .

Oh , and that comment about Nick Clegg was made with tongue firmly in cheek

Jake...err pompous it may be - but it doesn't make it any less true.

What is the point in Obama, at the start of his Presidency, giving house room to Brown when he could be, and probably is, waiting for Cameron?

I'm sure there are many half-truths in all your comments. It was during Bush' reign that the subject of dealing with the EU instead of a small pompous fragment the UK. Why should his successor have a different policy.

It wasn't until Bush lost the plot in Iraq where France and Germany opposed the war that he turned to his lapdog Blair. And didn't Bush show his contempt when he gestured to Blair like he was a dog before putting a medal over his head.

The recent episode of Brown trying to smooch up to Obama can make you cringe. Meeting in the canteen is no substitute for an equal one to one meeting

Our place is now in Europe and we should give them equal respect.
The special relationship still flourishes...
