Pegasus is a Canadian computer program designed to work out optimum deliveries per postman in the time allowed. However, it does not take into account steps, local obstacles (wheely bins, toys in the way), time taken for people to answer the door if needed, and - the biggest and most stupidest thing of all - that a constant pace can be obtained. Like any job, we slow up the more we do, and it is a physically tiring job.
Also, automatic sorting machines are all very well, except that the accuracy leaves a lot to be desired.

youngmafbog - I'm not sure it's the workers striking that will kill it. I think they have some very good reasons for the strike action.

Pegasus is a system designed for robots and humans don't act like robots. If the system is designed to do the sorting of the round before he/she delivers them that means more leg work in carrying out the round. Anyone who has worked on a production line will know the shortccomings in outcomes and the obstacles you come across. Also all rounds are different as also is the speed of doing a round. As the post office is making enormous profits this new idea should be kicked into touch by Adam Crazier (sorry Crozier) and he should return to the head of the FA.
