Does Bush have alzheimers? The signs are all there, talks slow which he didn't do before if you look at old interviews and so on. Any more signs. cuz he is almost 60 years old it wouldn't be to far out.

I would suggest that Mr Bush's slow-down in his speech patterns is a result of his advisors wishing him to show the appropriate gravitas comensurate with his position, and the seriousness of the issues on which he speaks in public. Most polticians evolve the way they speak - Margaret Thatcher is an exccellent example. If you listen to hear earlier speeches as an Education Minister, she sounds quicte screechy and quick, compared to her speeches as PM when her voice has dropped and slowed down, and sounded a lot better - I'll restrict myself to her speech patterns and their changes, I'll pass on the content!

Alzheimer's Disease is a progressive and irreversible degeneration of brain function that starts gradually. The first, and for a while the only symptom is a slight forgetfulness or inability to pick the right word when in the flow of a sentence. At this stage, sufferers' memory of recent events, or the names of familiar people or things deteriorates. They also have increasing difficulty with mental arithmetic. These symptoms, while noticeable, are not usually considered by the sufferer or those around them as cause for alarm.

 

However, as the disease progresses, the symptoms become easier to spot and harder to ignore. For example, those suffering the middle stages of Alzheimer's Disease may forget how to perform simple tasks, like personal hygiene or dressing. They lose the ability to think clearly and start having profound speech problems, and lose the ability to understand the written word and eventually cannot write even simple notes. Finally, people with Alzheimer's Disease can develop an overly anxious or aggressive character, and wander vacantly away from home. Eventually, sufferers need total care.

 

Although it is a seductive thought held by the young, not everyone approaching 60 is a suspect for Alzheimer's Disease, and World Leaders with slow deliberate speech may be trying to avoid verbal silliness for which they may have previously been ridiculed.

Bush struggles to talk fluently in public.  He has obviously been told to slow his speech so that his brain can keep up with it.

Does not look like it to me.  However, if he does, why should that pose a problem?  It did not hold Ronnie Raygun back.

read on the bbc just this week that an early warning sign for alz...is the inability to recognize certain smells...and tests have shown that it is the smell centres of the brain that get hit earliest in alz..... so there is a cheap and simple way of early diagnosis.....could be done quite covertly as well!!!
