/// The BBC defended its move but it denied boycotting the song. A spokesman said: ‘We cannot be seen to officially endorse or ask for donations to charities.///
That's strange since it is televising the Children In Need next weekend, it broadcast Concert For Diana on behalf of the late Princess Diana’s charities in July 2007, plus Live Aid in 1985 and Live 8 in 2005.

Seems like another daily mail storm in a tea cup. Radio 1 tends to play top 40 hits, the album is in the album chart but the single is not in the top 100 (or wasn't as of the 14 November). Its not made the top 40 tonight either.
I have to wonder if it wasn't for the charity nature (which is a good one) would it even be in the album chart.

It's being played on Radio 2 and local stations.
The type of music wouldn't fit on Radio 1 (youth-oriented pop), Radio 1 Xtra (urban), Radio 3 (classical), Radio 4, (spoken word and current affairs), Radio 5 Live (sport and current affairs), Radio 6 music (leftfield, rock and alternative), Radio 7 (comedy and drama).
Seems about right to me.
If people are so concerned, they can buy it on iTunes for 79p and listen to it to their heart's content while giving money to the cause they believe in so much. Or they can whinge about it for free.

so the gripe is that bbc are not playing it 'enough' ? thats all ?
i'm all for supporting it if yo choose, but personally i think its a dreary song and would switch over if it came on the raido. but then i do that if beyonce, alexander burke or leona lewis come on as well. personal choice about what i have coming in my ears.

The Daily Mail Group is a direct competitor with the BBC. The right wing media hate the BBC.
This (non) story is just BBC bashing for the sake of it. The BBC have been playing the single. Singles are released to promote albums, so by playing the single, far from boycotting the album, they are promoting it.
The single is not in the official singles chart 100 or the iTunes top 200 downloads. There is no reason for the BBC to play it, other than support the cause.
Add this to the long line of awful charity records.

Ah yes DM do this all the time don't they.
Put in a headline and then right down the bottom explain that the headline's not actually true. I guess they believeve their readers don't have a long enough attention span, or that by the time they get to the bottom they will have built up a head of steam and won't care anyway.
Besides as David says believing anything the Mail or the Times or the Sun says about the BBC is like believing anything that BA says about Virgin Airlines.
They are just a little biased
