It was a good argument for funding political parties through taxes. Banning donations and favours by lobby groups and others would be a fairer and less corrupt system.

The Jewish lobby wield a lot of influence on the American and British Governments. And we find ourselves fighting two wars against Israel's enemies.

historically, Britain has been more sympathetic to Arab countries than most. I don't see them controlled by Israel (yet). For all our 'special relationship' with the USA, however, it's Israel that really has a special relationship with Washington.

You probably shouldn't use Jewish to mean Israel, or even pro-Israeli; they're not the same thing.

I don't think our government is controlled by Jewish lobbies, but following Jake's post I think it only fair to point out that quite a few MPs are also members of Labour Friends of Israel.

If you saw the programme, it reckoned 80% of Tory MPs belong to Conservative Friends of Israel. It revealled many are given money, and many are given free trips to Israel.

A few years back a group of DUP MP's were invited to go to Israel and see their security measures. Soon after they returned a large consignment of weapons, which had been captured by the Israelis during their war with the Lebanese, turned up in Northern Ireland.

How can a tiny country like Israel control the British government? Possibly it is the other way round.The British government needs Israel to hang onto it's little bit of land or the fanatics in surrounding unstable, undemocratic countries would have no one to worry them.

Well, well, surprise Lonnie couldn't resist jumping in with both feet. Why don't you watch the programme referred to on i-player or catch-up tv if you are really interested. I am sure all your questions will be answered. Well said, Zeuhl ....... columbus wants Palestine wiped off the face of the earth. His is the sort of non-sensical remark that doesn't really need an answer but just illustrates some people's ignorance of the Middle East situation. However, I am convinced that the world is finally waking up to what is happening, albeit assisted by the (Jewish) Judge Goldstone's report.
