I have read all the comments on here about paedophiles and how some of you would shoot or hang them yourselves.

So, what's your opinions of this?

Eh?
Funny, just looked at the story again, so I repeat, eh?

My view... Well, I don't know if there wasn't any truth in it. Having a relation say something like that, I think I'd see the red mist too.
My opinion is that you're jumping to the conclusion that the teenager definitely had sex with the toddler, and that despite your own link which says,
"Authorities in the US haven't said if they believe the teen raped the girl and the police have said the matter is not part of their investigation." The article then goes on to say, "Results of the exam have yet to be released."

I'd suggest that if you're going to attach a link, you should at least read it first to see what it says.

I am not attacking the link. The boy admitted he had molested the girl.
Assuming that boy did tell his father he had raped a 3 year old and he were your son, what would you do?
Would you let the law deal with it?
Blame the school/authorities/tv/anything and everything?
Blame yourself?
Blame the boy?
Let the boy go through trial, and his life, and let him suffer the consequences?
Has that father in fact done a kindness and put an end to the boy's suffering, assuming he is attracted to 3 year olds?

I have no idea what I would feel or what I would do. This must be living a nightmare.
There you go again - jumping, and this time to the wrong conclusion: Please read what I said and you will see that I did not use the word "attack", I used the word "a-t-t-a-c-h". Got it now?
I read this story a while back. According to the article I read the boy had touched the girl and on examination there was no evidence of her being penetrated.
I find that most people who say that they would shoot or hang someone themselves haven't thought it through.

They are quite willing to personally execute someone who has outraged them but haven't thought about having to execute someone they thought was innocent or undeserving perhaps someone who murders a burglar.

So really what we have in these cases are people who are volunteering to kill people that they personally think deserve to die.

We have a few words for that - vigilante is one, lynch mob is another.
You are quite right, jake. If you are the “Public Executioner” you have to be prepared to carry out your duties without fear or favour, etc. You could not pick and choose who you executed on the State’s behalf basing your choice on your own personal beliefs.

Those proponents of Capital Punishment who say “I would definitely pull the lever” are usually deluding themselves. Their statement usually comes after they have read details of a particularly harrowing case where (in their opinion) the perpetrator “deserves the rope – it’s the only language they understand”. However, next week they would be putting the noose around the neck of Tony Martin (the Norfolk farmer who shot a burglar). He was originally convicted of murder, and before 1968 he may well have been hanged if his appeal had failed.

Albert Pierrepoint (the UK’s last hangman, who executed over 600 people) was said to have turned against the idea of Capital Punishment after he had to hang one of the regulars, James Corbitt who frequented his pub. But it seems strange that he chose to change his opinion (suggesting that the practice solves nothing and is mainly driven by the need for revenge) only after somebody he knew was the subject of his art. There was no doubt about Corbitt’s guilt, or that he should face the death penalty (under the law as it then was). But Pierrepoint had no similar qualms about others he put to death, such as Timothy Evans, Derek Bentley or Ruth Ellis, where the case for execution was more questionable.

For all its faults we do have a legal system in the UK which is supposed to exact justice on behalf of the public and in return they undertake not to do so themselves. It is unfortunate that at present that deal is being broken on a large scale, but that is another issue.
My opinion for what it is worth.

Anyone who has sex with a prepubescent child has a mentally illness. I for one, would not want to see people who have mental disabilities being killed by the state.

I am generally against the death penalty in the majority of cases, however there are some exception times when I would consider it.

What a horribly sad story all round. One of the comments on the DM website says reports in the USA say that the 3 year old was proved to have not been abused, so it seems the father of the 15 year old acted before he had any or all facts.
" so it seems the father of the 15 year old acted before he had any or all facts."
... and that hc4361 didn't care much for the facts, either.

I often think that people who start yelling about killing others are (like the lady) perhaps protesting too much...
He had no right to take the law into his own hands by killing his son and casting 'unproven' blame on him?

Hope he gets the electric chair.
