Large bonuses for immigration officials

£295,000 bonuses for brave senior immigration officials, who it seems are putting their very lives on the line for us.
Not bad for sitting behind a desk, while thousands still creep into the country,
I wonder how large the bonuses are for our troops who are really putting their livers on the line?

As an example, if there are 500 people getting this bonus, then that would equate to just over £500 per person - hardly a major issue.
I don't really know what a immigration official does - some of them may well put their lives on the line - especially if any of them deal with illegal immigrant gangs.
Just in case you are interested, I believe that a 6 month stint in Afghanistan is currently £2400 (as I am sure that Cameron said he will double it to £4800 within a couple of months if elected). I think that there are currently about 6000 troops there.

"Phil Woolas defended the payouts to the UK Border Agency, worth an average of £10,000 each...."

Sangatte has raised its ugly head again with more than 1000 trying to reach us illegally. Its amazing our airport police are armed with machine guns but the people who man our ports in the Border agency have nothing. There is an internal war going on and currently we are the losers.

After serving one's stint in Afghanistan or just about to embark on one, the condition of one's liver would perhaps be the least of one's worries, taking into account when one is out there each and every day could be your last.
The same scenario could have also been true during WW2, except of course the beer was somewhat stronger in those days.
How many do you get down your neck, after a hard day on the building site?
