Proposals from the Shadow Home Secretary ...

Currently, you can only use "reasonable force" against an intruder.

The Conservatives would replace this, and allow homeowners to use any amount of force to defend themselves and their property unless it was "grossly disproportionate"

About time we were allowed to stand up against those who violate our properties?

Or a licence for vigilantes?

They wouldn't get out of my house!! No doubt the PC Brigade will be after me!!
if someone breaks into my house they would get beat until they were no longer a danger to me or my property, sod what the law says I should or shouldn't be able to do.
Thats two of us,Chuck, prepare for the backlash!!

Note to self:

Don't inadvertently stray into chuck's house after a few too many.
That's Ok, but if you are elderly and disabled, how much reasonable force could you use against a couple of teenage thugs,

Everhelpful ... there may not be a backlash, because that is more or less what the proposed ragulations would allow.
a pistol would be of more use.
Logic, if they pick on the wrong pensioner......

(I love that story ^ good on the old boy)
logic, that's me you are talikihg about(elderly and disabled)but I would still manage it.!!

Oooooooh, you mean ... vegetarians !

LOL
Are you allowed to say that, nowadays?
Grossly disproportionate would have to be defined.

I'm non violent, and would never have the spheres to actually burgle a place, and one can't help but wonder what lengths they'd go to stay free. Personally, I'd use whatever force and whatever implements to take away the danger of that, even if they died in the process.
I'm a pensioner living by myself and if someone broke into my house and I had the means to defend myself I would hit the barstards until I felt safe.....i.e. they stopped moving.
I'm with Chuck. If someone breaks into your house, then they take the consequences whatever those consequence may be - in my opinion.
Good on you,Postdog and Craft1948.
Yes CHUCK, that's Brill but not all of us are that fit any more,
Question Author
As it happens, I live in a flat, and the only person who could burgle my place would be banned heroe.

I'm not sure I'd want to take on banned heroe. He's quite tough.
is banned heroe still being changed???
