Is Afghanistan the right target?
http://news.bbc.co.uk...ld/africa/8491329.stm
Now that Islamic extremists linked to Al Qaeda are flourishing in Somalia couple this with the same fanatics in Yemen they will be able to form a pincer group across the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea.
Surely we are concentrating on the wrong battle as the Taliban are only seeking to preserve their history whereas Al Qaeda are intent on global domination?
One things for sure and that is the battle will not be won in Afghanistan alone.

A brave camerman worked alongside the Taliban and accompanied them on their destructive missions.
We witnessed the making of roadside bombs, the planting besides the makeshift roads and the ambush that awaited an American armoured vehicle.
What was more evident was the help the insurgents received from the civilian population giving them food and accommodation whilst they prepared for the attack. They also had spies along the route to inform the Taliban when an armoured vehicle was leaving the depot so it could be ambushed.
No wonder we are fighting an unwinnable war when most of the population are siding with the Taliban,

I missed that Dispatches programme rov.
/// A brave cameraman worked alongside the Taliban and accompanied them on their destructive missions.///
i don't know about brave, he is a out and out traitor, and he should be charged with being an accessory to a crime
/// Generally speaking, being an accessory to any crime, including murder, means you knew it was happening and did nothing to try to stop it. ///

No, as I always said Alqeeda does not exist and is just a word Americans have come up with to brand anyone who does not agree with them or in other words is a threat to American interest. In case of Afghanistan, Americans did not learn from the history when Britain invaded those areas. We started with what known to be Talibans as our enemies as they were supposed to be the Alqaeeda’s leaderships protector but now thinking that ONLY TALIBAN are fighting against us is keeping our eyes shut. Its not Taliban but Afghan and they are fighting against invading armies yet once again. And that is the reason I believe this sentence in your last post does not make sense.
///////What was more evident was the help the insurgents received from the civilian///////
They are not helping insurgents. They are helping their freedom fighters. This is our misconception.

AOG this film on Ch4 was compulsive viewing. He went behind enemy lines to discover the way they operate and at the end gave the information over. He could have been killed at any time. He will definately receive some sort of an award.
