If the Council had lied to conceal the fact that it was running Muslim women only sessions, then that would clearly be wrong. But it didn't.

The Council hired the pool out and the people booking it were muslim women. Pools are often hired out for kids birthday parties and this was no different.

If someone had gone to the pool and were told they couldn't come in because it had been hired for a birthday party, would the Express, Mail and AOG be interested in that story?

There are usually regular times when pools can be hired. The fact that a group of Muslims hired a pool really isn't much of a story.

The last paragraph of the article says:

A spokesman said: “The council is not providing a service that excludes non-Muslims, but simply hiring a facility privately to a group who happen to be Muslim women. Other religious, social or cultural groups could do the same, subject to availability.”

Muslim women cover themselves in public and thus wear tee-shirts and joggers in an open public bath. Personally, an idiosyncrasy that makes me cringe, like carving an empty plate with a knife and fork, is swimming with someone fully clothed, so in that respect I am quite happy for muslim women to privately hire the pool. I don't know if other cultures adopt a non-exposure of female skin rule so I don't know why other religions or cultures would want to complain?
