I wonder if the police would put officers on board the school bus, if a group of school children were bulling another pupil, because he was wearing the wrong make of trainer?

They weren't wearing veils, AOG - they were wearing headscarfs - and that's no different to any other kid wearing a hat - so why suggest they remove them before boarding the bus?

Since you have got the first part of your answer wrong, I will now address the rest.

Firstly I agree it is no different to any other kid wearing a hat, but the whole point of the trouble on the bus, was because these girls wore the Hijab/Veil (call it what you may).

While in no way condoning this behaviour, these are kids and will focus their bulling attention on anyone who doesn't follow the rest of the sheep (a little like the treatment I get from some juveniles on this site ).

Why do I suggest they remove them before boarding the bus?

It would be one way to alleviate this bulling, or they could just do as I do, ignore the idiots and carry on as usual.

Despite your dictionary definition, AOG, I doubt there are many who would call a head covering such as the one shown in your link, a 'veil'. You and your favourite newspaper certainly speak the same language. :o)

I haven't seen the article this picture came with, but I'm willing to bet the Mail didn't refer to the headgear worn here as a veil - and neither would you - and yet it's astonishing similar to that shown in your original link. The term has been used simply because it applies to Muslims. Make no mistake - I detest all religion and would rather all religious symbols be removed from schools, but it's quite clear in this case that the terminology has been applied simply to create antagonism.

Hijab is the headscarf, the face veil is a nikab - hijab is becoming used for any muslim head covering - as has been said already, anyone (including my granny or my mum) could be wearing a headscarf.
