With a mosque and its minorets standing over 100' high overlooking Sandhurst where our Army officers are trained is the planning of it just inflammatory?

Fortunately the planning has just been turned down!

Pity. Would have made a good training target.
What a strange notion!

Would you think it inflamatory if a Catholic church was built overlooking a school because some paedophiles are Catholics?

Fortunately, this kind of jingoistic hyper-sensitivity - looking for an issue where no exists only occurs to our leaders - not to the military who fight their wars for them.
they promised not to climb the minarets, except for maintenance, to preserve pivacy of Sandhurst.

They didn't promised not to install a CCTV camera ;)

The local residents seem to think so!
Surely the muezzin would have been up the minoret calling the faithful to prayer.
The first purpose built mosque, the Shah Jahan, was built in Woking in 1889. It's located in the heart of 'military country'.
As 99.99% of Muslims are decent law-abiding people what's the problem of having a mosque near Sandhurst?
some islamists are paedophiles

Oooops sorry, wrong thread
The problem is that the army officers might get confused as to where they are.

If they think they see a mosque they might think they're in the Middle East and start beating up locals and scouting round for private security work, rather than knuckling down to their training.
thank goodness, our brave officer cadets would have felt so intimidated with a mosque nearby. We need to offer our boys the greatest possible protection.
Quinlad - Are you sugesting that British Soldiers are violent mercenaries?

kunni what has race got to do with religion?
Racism?

I thought Islam was a religion and Muslims were the religion's followers.

Sounds like intolerance to a religion to me, not racism.
Racism Kunnni ? what race are muslims ??
Quinlad.

Answer onlineoap's question.
Having read the news report - which you did not post originally - I would wish to amend my original answer -

I would wholeheartedly oppose the ddemolition of the school building - not because it was a Catholic school, but because it is a listed building, and should be preserved from a heritage point of view.

My objection to the location of a new mosque remains at zero level.
Anotheoldgit - Sounds like Quinlad's lost his tongue.
"what has race got to do with religion?"

Religions are racing and trying to out-do each other these days. lol
Anyone here close by to the proposed Mosque? No? I am. The proposal means knocking down a listed building that hasn't been looked after to it's max by it's present 'owners', along a main road where congestion is already a nightmare, let alone any supposed security risks. Local residents r happy for a mosque in other close by locations so keeping it on our door step. Everyone needs to stop playing race cards n use their ears to hear wot the area n people need and it's best location. In this case it is a ridiculus location for a popular place of worship.
