Should the taxpayer fund this NHS surgery, when there are plenty more life saving operations that have to be carried out in the USA, with money raised from charity sources?

There is a thriving business of people going abroad for PRIVATE medical treatment, bypassing the NHS waiting lists.

/// Can't see where USA fits, aog? ///
I only said this because almost nightly I switch on my regional TV news, and there are reports of some poor little child, who has some life threatening condition, and the parents say "that a life saving operation in the US is their only hope".
This is then followed by blokes from the local pub who are committing themselves to some kind of endurance feat or other, to raise funds to send the child to the US for the operation.

///If a woman thinks she is a man or vice versa its not a prosthetic penis thats required but an adjustment to the brain. If no operation exists at present she should join the queue of other patients hoping to find a cure for incurable illnesses.

Thanks Rov1200 for the clear up. Can I just ask where you got your psychology qualifications from?
Just curious, if this was someone who was say anorexic or maybe suffered from tourettes syndrome, would people also say that since this is a psychological problem, the NHS should not pay?

Where did that leap of illogic come from Quinny? All I'm saying is that things that are lifestyle choices like sex changes, fertility treatment and cosmetic surgery should not be paid for by the NHS. The budget has a limit and should not be pi55ed away on things that may be nice to have but are unnecessary.
