There are numerous such cases and the police always issue similar statements:
/// Supt John Burley said: 'It does appear that the baby was recently born and we're obviously concerned that she (the mother) needs medical attention as soon as possible.///
Why aren't these cases classed as murder, and the perpetrators when found accused of infanticide?
After all it is only recently that a woman was given a long prison sentence for committing a mercy killing.
Only when the mother has took every precaution possible to make sure her baby is left in a warm and safe environment, should she when arrested, be shown tolerance.

More often than not these kinds of cases are those of first time young mothers who for various reasons cannot or will not turn to anyone for support. The psychological impact upon the mother must be immense not just for the present but in the future and also what is disturbing in this particular case is the surrounding circumstances in which the baby was eventually found. A criminal charge would not help a mother who clearly needs immediate psychological help not punishment.
Well my comment was about the majority of women who give birth and fail to cope (usually mentally), and with not much if any help/support from the NHS (midwifes ect), it could possibly lead to the Baby's life at being put at risk example being the Daily Mail. I just think that it should be focused on to concentrate on women after birth with all chances for any help to ensure a normal state of mind before being allowed home. Because the little attention which is shown at present is quite poor.
