Before her release, she admitted 20 benefit fraud and deception charges, which could have carried a ten-year jail term.
But a judge decided it was in the "public interest" that she should be freed under a three-year community rehabilitation order, which has now been completed.
She was moved to a secret location, provided with a job and given full police protection
she had been a witness for him before on some other charges and helped him get of .
if she had not lied he would not of got the job he had and two young girls may still be alive.

presumably these cons who have a sense of right and wrong are all in prison by mistake... thanks for the namecalling, dh, good to see you fall instantly back on insults when people fail to kiss your pretty posterior. And would you care to answer my question about whether you want police beaten up because they also failed to pass on information that would have stopped Huntley getting the job?

I cannot agree with the statement that the judicial system let the people down. Huntley was rightly convicted and given the maximum sentence prescribed by law, viz life imprisonment without any realistic hope of release on licence. The only further sanction would have been capital punishment (to which in principle I have no moral objection). However that is no longer an available option, and I prefer to think that we are a law-abiding society, rather than a lynch mob.

Any suggestion that Maxine Carr played any part in the murders is utterly wrong and - given the amount of coverage the case had - pretty thick. You MUST have read enough about it to know that?
By the time she knew anything about the crime, the girls were already dead. She then committed a different criminal offence and went to prison for it.
The people who think of her as some sort of Myra Hindley figure, just because it was a high profile case are stupid. They vilify her and want her dead, even though there are thousands of women in the UK who have committed far worse crimes who they don't give a second's thought to.
Why do they single her out? Because they're so brainless, they gobble up the media hysteria like a 3-year-old eating nutella with a wooden spoon and then defecate it out as fully formed 'opinions'.
Like I say - thick.
