I think Donald Rumsfeld's quote is appropriate here:

"The message is that there are known "knowns." There are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say there are things that we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we do not know we don't know. "

Just like MP's expenses....

When it comes to MPs future pay known unknowns will mean a massive rise to make up what they have lost in expenses.
But I notice an MP for an area only 20 miles from Wesminster can clain £1,450 a month for a house or flat.

I know people who commute in from High Wycombe, miles from London, so why should an MP only 20 miles from the centre of London be able to claim that much.
On first glance it is open to abuse.
They are still being allowed to employ a relative.
They can claim rent for a place in London even if
it belongs to a relative or themslves for that matter.
There is no check on the work they do as an MP
they will draw their salary even if they never turn up.

Yes 20 miles from Westminster seems a low amount. It would have been better and more efficient to use those outside the M25.
