Why no news?

Early this morning on TV news it was reported (by the revolving news text) that a helicopter had been shot down in Afghanistan, but no mention on the news proper, since then there has been no further news.
I can find no news report of this incident in the on-line newspapers, so I have done a Google search and came up with the above link.
I wonder why this news seems to have been covered up?

Not all Taliban claims are truthful and I think western media will be cautious about printing them.

// KABUL — NATO says a helicopter with the international force has crashed in southern Afghanistan.
The military said Monday that initial reports are that there were no fatalities, but Jilani Farah, deputy police chief in Zabul province where the crash occurred, says 14 people were injured, including international and Afghan troops.
NATO says all personnel on board were evacuated to nearby medical facilities.
The military says the cause of the crash is under investigation, but there is no indication that insurgents shot down the aircraft. //

There could be several reasons why this has not been more widely reported.
- The area is remote and the details have not been fully verified.
- The helicopter was on a mission they do not want to publicise.
- Family of the injured (or dead) need to be informed first.
- They do not want to give succor to the enemy if they have shot it down

Welcome back Gromit, will Gromit2 no longer post?
Did you read Eds exclamation? (see George Galloway post)
Back to this post,
Not convinced, even if news of an incident is a little scanty, it is still reported in some newspapers.
/// The area is remote and the details have not been fully verified./// Even so it would haver been reported.
/// The helicopter was on a mission they do not want to publicise./// It has been proven by the links that it was known about, but there is no reason to state what mission it was on.
/// Family of the injured (or dead) need to be informed first ./// It was reported that there was no fatalities, but when there has been the incidents have still been reported, but names withheld.
/// They do not want to give succor to the enemy if they have shot it down /// If it is down it is down, just deny it has been shot down by the enemy, it's been done before.

And it looks like that could be exactly what is happening here. Naturally, they will play down the incident if insurgents are responsible.
I had not seen Spare Eds explaination in the Galloway thread, thanks for pointing me to it.
Gromit2 will not be posting again. I believe multiple user names are not in the spirit of the site, and anyone who has to make up an imaginary friend to agree with themselves has no credibility.

I tried to be nice to you Gromit, but you still revert to your horrible ways.
What was your need to state "you will be please to hear the victim was a black man"?
What a horrible thing to say you must have a very sick twisted mind, and it is little wonder that you had to invent Gromit2 because your mind let you down once again.
Because I can see you will never change I will now impose a AOG ASBO on you..

This may be a different one, but you can add it to your collection
