GMTV, Kevin Sullivan from the Mirror is running an article on it, The flag of St George, why don't we fly it with pride, their will be a groundswell of it for the World Cup, so why only every 4 yrs?

You-re right - fly a union jack & we're likely to be told off for offending some such race or other. Maybe we should change to the skull & crossbones?
Why only flag it at World Cup football? Hoist them up people, hoist 'em up.

Patriotism is as Dr. Johnson said "The last refuge of the scoundrel" it's a great way for dubious politicians to try to trick the population.
What really gets me about "love of country" is what are these people really celebrating - ask them and they'll probably wax lyrical about countryside or something like that.
Love of country has to be of your fellow countrymen if it means anything - yet these are the same people who are forever on their soap-boxes about Chavs and scum and "broken Britain" - they hate their fellow countrymen - Unless of course they come from their town, support their football team and agree with their point of view.
Show me a patriot I'll show you a sucker!

So what exactly do you actually love when you love your country then Bobbi?
All the people apart from the chavs, social security scroungers, Labour voters and southerners?
One ammendment to that view I can understand someone who's come to this country and worked to get citizenship loving it in that way and being proud of it but it makes no sense to be proud of something that you have by accident of birth.
I'm no more proud of my country than I am of the colour of my eyes
