and probably others who admired his "no nonsense" "common sense" approach

says the problems of his council were embedded before he became mayor last year

Is this an acceptable excuse given the Audit comission's damning findings or should the buck stop with the Maverick Mayor?

I would not be happy to see an elected Council be takeover by unelected commissioners. There will be local elections in 3 weeks, and the voters of Doncaster will be able to make there feelings known. If the English democrat and the unaffiliated councillors still hold the balance of power, then so be it. If they are thrown out, then that would solve the problem.
mayor "winter" the previous one is to blame for all this s**ite about Doncaster !
mayor davies has good ideas for getting my town back on track
i suggest you read his plans i admit the old style councillors will fight against most of them but it's what this town needs

And those plans involve sacking the newly appointed Chief executive

And proposing a budget that lost him a vote of no confidence 41:11?

Seems to me he was too busy fighting with the other councillors to do his job
In my defence, yes, I was a bit taken with his approach when first elected, sounded then, as if finally someone had taken a 'no nonsense' approach, and actually was going to sort things out.

Seems I was just a bit wrong.

First impressions???.
The man is a complete fool who treats his cabinet like school children. On a walk around a ward in the borough he dropped some litter and was challenged by a member of the public about it.

"Do you know who I am " was his reply.
In my opinion having the word 'english' in front of democrats won Davies the election . Even though Mick Maye got more votes than Davies.
Deggars makes a good point about my old rugby adversary Martin Winters, He has his thumb in more pies than Jack Horner.
Huh!??
He means the other Ice.Maiden, not you icemaiden :)
