Strong, stable and principled government?
Without expressing an opinion as to the best form of government in the present situation, I have to say that the requests from both major parties for opposition support in the interests of forming a "strong, stable and principled government" ring rather hollow. Just as Voltaire described the Holy Roman Empire as being, "neither Holy, nor Roman, nor an Empire", by definition a coaliton or minority government cannot be strong, nor stabled or principled. It will be at best a concoction to allow the Queen's government to carry on until such time as another election is called in the hope of producing a more decisive result.
